Situated to west of Aberdeen, draws most of pupils from 'relatively affluent' catchment area; founded in 1895; has undergone two major reconstructions and now includes 17 classrooms, two libraries, art room, gym, general purposes room, home economics room, computer suite, and dining room; also nursery for 40 children in pre-school year. In addition to access to nearby grassed area, outdoor facilities include playground with picnic tables, activity trail, painted games and play area for younger pupils. Proud of recent work in developing national curriculum, in addition to which a range of extra-curricular activities includes football, netball, basketball, choir and drama. Winners of Rotary Club Quiz in 1998; school choir performs widely at various community events. Both boys' and girls' football teams successful in all age-groups. Active parent-teacher association organises events throughout year. Each year, children invite local pensioners to take part in bus tour of city and entertainment at the school; housebound pensioners receive food parcels in October. Pupils and staff also give to charities; one major donation each term. 'The school aims to produce happy, responsible and caring children and develop lively, enquiring minds by encouraging the development of the ability to question and argue rationally'.
